Stephen Sondheim is often praised as the greatest and most influential musical theatre composer of the late 20th Century. Whether as the lyricist for Golden Age-era musicals such as Gypsy and West Side Story or as the composer/lyricist for shows that range from the groundbreaking Company and Sunday in the Park with George to modern classics like Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods, Sondheim’s genius and legacy are still alive and well today. Since the early 1970s, there have been very few times that a Sondheim show was not running on Broadway; indeed, playing even right now is a revue of his music entitled Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends. Come see the Upper Arlington High School Vocal Music Department present “The World of Stephen Sondheim”, including performances by all UAHS Choirs and many soloists and small groups–all featuring the music and lyrics of Sondheim.
