UAVM Singers Perform at OCDA

UAHS hosted the Ohio Choral Directors Association Summer Conference. Part of this conference is the OCDA High School Honor Choir, featuring some of the finest high school voices from around the state. UA had three singers in this year’s honor choir—Elizabeth A., Jaxson H., and Cameron K. Congratulations to them on their fine performance!

Martin C., Athina B., and Roshan S. also performed Monday night at the OCDA Summer Conference alongside our HS and MS Honor Choir students.

UAVM Celebrates the Year at Annual Choir Banquet

Students, families, and directors gathered for the annual Choir Banquet to celebrate a year filled with music, friendship, growth, and memorable performances. Students were recognized for their years of participation in Upper Arlington Vocal Music, along with other accomplishments from throughout the year.

The evening also included special recognition of our graduating seniors, celebrating the music they’ve made, the friendships they’ve built, and the many ways they’ve contributed to UAVM during their time in the program. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and excited to see where their next chapter takes them.

The Addams Family Earns Multiple CAPA Marquee Award Honors

Upper Arlington Vocal Music’s production of The Addams Family was nominated for Best Musical Production at the 2026 CAPA Marquee Awards, recognizing the work of more than 120 students involved in the production.

Jimmy Z., who played Uncle Fester, was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role and selected as a featured soloist for the Marquee Awards Showcase at the Ohio Theatre. Lily C. was also recognized as a semifinalist in the Leading Actress category.

Members of the cast performed at the Marquee Awards Showcase on May 13 at the Ohio Theatre.

Symphonic Choir Earns Straight Superior Ratings at OMEA State

Congratulations to Symphonic Choir on earning straight Superior ratings at the OMEA State Large Group Adjudicated Event.

March 2026

UAVM Students Travel to New York City

Symphonic Choir, Vocal Ensemble, and other choir juniors and seniors traveled to New York City for a five-day performance and educational trip. Highlights included a choral clinic with Dr. Caron Daley at Duquesne University, performances at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Broadway performances of Death Becomes Her and SIX: The Musical, and a workshop with a cast member from Death Becomes Her.

Students also visited the 9/11 Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art, enjoyed a dinner cruise on the Hudson, and explored the city. The trip is offered every two years and is made possible in part through the generous support of the UA Vocal Music Boosters.

February 2026

Bel Canto and Camerata Perform at OMEA Professional Development Conference

Bel Canto and Camerata were selected to perform at the Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference, an event attended by hundreds of music educators from across the state.

After months of preparation and additional rehearsals, the two choirs presented concerts showcasing strong vocal and ensemble technique, musical growth, and the joy of singing. More than 160 students participated under the direction of Dr. David Monseur and Mrs. Amy Leacock.

UAVM Students Earn 24 Superior Ratings at OMEA Solo & Ensemble

Thirty-five UAVM students participated in 26 events at the OMEA District 15 Solo & Ensemble Adjudicated Event, held at Pleasant View Middle School in Grove City.

Together, they earned 24 Superior ratings. Congratulations to all of the students on their outstanding performances and achievements.

Otterbein University High School Honor Choir

Congratulations to our nine students who participated in yesterday’s Otterbein University High School Honor Choir. They joined with students from high school choirs all over Central Ohio to rehearse and perform music under the direction of Dr. Gayle Walker. We’re so proud of them! Congratulations: Cate S., Elise L., Maggie M., Jayden K., Ari B., Liam M., Elijah M., Jake B., and Pierce B.

Eleven UAVM Students Selected for Ohio All-State Choir

Congratulations to Dominic A., Kennedy B., Martin C., Santi C., Lily C., Aizik G., Cameron K., Chloe M., Miles P., Henry W., and Jimmy Z. on being selected for the Ohio All-State Choir.

The students will perform in February at the Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference under the direction of Dr. Rollo Dilworth, an internationally recognized choral conductor, composer, and arranger.

UAVM Students Selected for OCDA High School Honor Choir

Congratulations to Ryleigh R. and Dominic A., who were selected to perform in the Ohio Choral Directors Association High School Honor Choir at Capital University.

The choir brought together more than 120 singers from across Ohio and was conducted by Dr. Steven Hankle of the University of Dayton.

Mean Girls earns CAPA Marquee Award nominations

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Mean Girls! The CAPA Marquee Award nominations are out and we are so proud. Honors include Backstage Excellence for our Stage Management Team, Outstanding Student Designers (Josh — Sound Design; Corrine — Costume Design), Semi-Finalists for Best Actress (Allie, Abi, Julia) and Best Actor (Jimmy), and Best Musical Production for our entire cast, crew, and directors.
