LYDIA SMITH-LOCKWOOD is the Vocal Music Director at Upper Arlington High School and is beginning her twenty-first year of teaching. She has taught at Wittenberg University, in the Springfield City school district and most recently at Shawnee High School.

Lydia received her bachelors degree in vocal music education from Willamette University, her masters degree in music education from Wright State University, and she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at University of Dayton.

Lydia is the accompanist for the Springfield Symphony Chorale and is the music director at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Her groups have performed in Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, The National Cathedral, and the U.S. House of Representatives. They have backed Kenny Rogers, Sandi Patty, and John Legend.

Her performances have extended internationally into countries such as Japan, Italy, and France and her groups have consistently received superior ratings at Ohio Music Educator’s Association district and state adjudicated events. Lydia’s awards have included the Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award for Ohio, Springfield Symphony Teacher of the Year, and Rotary Club Teacher of the Year.

AMY LEACOCK, Assistant Director and Accompanist

AMY LEACOCK graduated from BGSU with a degree in vocal music education and is a director and accompanist for the UAHS choral department. Ms. Leacock also teaches 8th Grade Choir at Hastings Middle School.

Her previous experiences include one year at Jones Middle School, ten years at Arbor Hills Junior High in Sylvania, OH and two years at Pleasant View School for The Arts in North Canton, OH.

Ms. Leacock is a certified adjudicator through the Ohio Music Educator's Association. She served as the Chancel and Treble Choir director at the Sylvania United Church of Christ for four years, and she sings in the Sweet Adeline chorus the Scioto Valley Chorus. She was the baritone of the 2009 International Championship Sweet Adeline quartet Moxie Ladies!

Amy sang jingles and commercials in Toledo for five years; the old WNCI jingles were sung by her group. She is in demand as a clinician for Sweet Adelines' Young Women in Harmony and travels throughout the US for camps and clinics.

Amy's musical theater experiences include: stage directing, music directing, choreographer, pit player, pit director, and actress in countless musicals. She runs a Musical Theatre camp in the summer at Muskingum University.

She and her husband Chris are the proud parents of two daughters: McKenzie and Ava.
